CaféCountertops™ began with one family's desire to find the perfect material for building custom countertops.

With generations of experience in fabricating premium-quality wood and metal kitchen components and millwork, the family wanted to find a material that would both perform outstandingly well and also offer something fresh and unique to kitchen designers across North America. In studying kitchens of their ancestral home in Switzerland and Northern Europe, they found the perfect solution— solid wood.

Wood had been the preferred material in distinctive European kitchens for over half a century. The family recognized the outstanding benefits of this durable and sustainable resource, with its blend of beauty, utility, and natural harmony.

With the need to obtain superior quality countertop stock, methods of solid wood fabrication used throughout the world were carefully researched. The family chose to import their materials from Northern Europe, a region recognized internationally for its exceptional wood craftsmanship. With a steady supply of superior material ensured, CafeCountertops™ was born, and a void in the North American market for high-end and food-prep-safe solid wood countertops was immediately filled. Kitchen and bathe designers throughout the continent quickly warmed to this beautiful new material.

In 2008, CaféCountertops™ experienced unprecedented growth. Production was relocated to a facility offering three times more factory workspace and state-of-the-art production machinery. Our customer-service response and production times remain among the industry-best.

Today, CaféCountertops™ operates from a spacious production facility in Knoxville, within the heart of the Tennessee Valley region. Superior wood selections are still imported from Europe and carefully sorted for visual appeal. And from the initial stages of fabrication to hand-sanding and finishing, we still apply the same Olde World craftsmanship used in Europe for decades.

As a multi-generation family-owned business, CaféCountertops™ remains fully committed to supplying America's finest kitchen furnishers with exquisite, custom solid wood countertops. In 2011, as part of a planned generational succession within the family, the CafeCountertops™ brand and all of its related staff and operations were realigned under ownership of Terrassa North America, a company founded by the fourth generation of this industrious American family who still holds to its European roots as strong as ever. Like the world-renowned watch-makers of our ancestral home in western Switzerland, a culture of superior craftsmanship and precision has been carried forward seamlessly, and will only continue to be improved on in decades to come.
